EPL: Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola lock horns as Tottenham Hotspurs, Manchester City clash
By on November 20th, 2020. News

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola will be up against arch-rival Jose Mourinho as action returns to the Premier League this weekend.

Jose Mourinho would be out to frustrate Guardiola’s flamboyant style of play as he presents a stern tactical test to his counterpart in the coaching dugout.

It would be intriguing to see how both managers compete in the game just like Frank Lampard does with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Both gaffers are world class managers and with the game looming in earnest, we ponder who could be the better manager between the two top coaches.

DAILY POST observed that Pep Guardiola has succeeded with Barcelona where he won the UEFA Champions League at the expense of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. While Mourinho has done well, starring Chelsea to their first league title in their history back in 2004/2005 season.

Both coaches have faced each other on several occasions with Guardiola getting the advantage over Mourinho in terms of the number of wins.

But Mourinho’s ability to win games gives him a kind of an edge to his rival (Pep Guardiola) though the Spaniard is a master of beautiful playing scheme after he redefined football with the invention of the tiki-taka style at Barcelona.

His understanding of the game is top-notch while his substitution is full of intelligence and unpredictability.

He’s got the knack to turn a formation around just as he did with the talent of Ibrahim Afellay, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto’O Fils at the Catalan giants.

But Mourinho’s confidence and (hard) working ethics could be a standard above Pep’s managerial prowess.

Mourinho has got the charisma to steer his boys in the dressing room more than his Pep counterpart. And his ability to convert the player into a favourable playing position is second to none.

He converted Sergio Ramos from the right-back position into a central defender and the Spanish defender is making a name for himself in that position on a legendary level.

Guardiola’s game play is centered on flair and his ability to maximize his teams’ playing strength and potentials.

While Mourinho can initiate match antics that could be mind-boggling even to those in the press.

He’s an intelligent logician as he can make up a statement that could motivate his team while he can spot weakness from the way his team is playing any moment on the pitch.

His sides’ has the (genuine) class to attain balance within the mix owing to their defensive correlation as a unit.

While Pep Guardiola’s team sometimes lacks balance owing to the defensive mix-up they are having like we saw against Olympic Lyonnais.

Mourinho is adept at masterminding memorable moments as he has done more of this in his time than Guardiola.
