Man, 25, docked for allegedly stealing turkey in Ekiti

A 25-year-old man, Adetunji Ismail has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing a live turkey at Omisanjana area in the State.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant, on November 2, 2020, at about 0430 a.m, at Omisanjana area, Ado-Ekiti, in the Ado-Ekiti Magistrate District did steal one life turkey valued N35,000, property of one Obakpolo Kennedy.

According to Inspector Akinwale, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16, Vol.1, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail since it is a bailable offence.

He promised that the defendant would produce credible surety to the court, promising that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adefunke Anorma, granted bail in the sum of N20,00 to the defendant, with one surety in like sum who must be a resident with a verifiable address.

She later adjourned the case to December 8th, 2020 for hearing.

In another case, the police authority also docked one Sunday John, 35 years old, for alleged conspiracy with one other at large to commit felony.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, informed the court that at about 11 p.m at Okeoniyo street, Ado-Ekiti, the defendant attempted to commit felony.

Akinwale pointed out that the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol. 1 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant bail to the defendant, saying he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adefunke Anorma, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum who must be a resident within Ado-Ekiti and a verifiable address.

The Magistrate adjourned to December 8th, 2020 for hearing.
